From USA Today bestselling author Kelly Rey comes the second laugh-out-loud installment in her Jamie Winters Mysteries …
Psychic medium Dorcas Beeber is brash, obnoxious...and dead. Unfortunately for legal secretary Jamie Winters, she arrives at the psychic's studio for a reading only to find the victim apparently killed by a blow from her own crystal ball. And things only get worse when Jamie suddenly finds herself the prime suspect in the murder. It's clearly a setup, but Jamie's only clue to the real killer's identity is a black SUV parked near the scene of the crime. Desperate and running out of time, Jamie enlists the help of her landlord's eccentric teenaged niece, Maizy, as her unlikely sidekick to help wade through the pool of disgruntled clients, a family with divided loyalties, a creepy ex-boss, and incriminating news reports to find the real killer...before Jamie's future includes a jail cell!

Nonsensical but fun cozy mystery. When Jamie is once again discovers a body, she is sure that she is the prime suspect so even though she is terrified to investigate she does so against her better judgment. Although 17 year old Maizy is supposed to be her sidekick, the teenagers enthusiasm leads them places that Jamie really doesn't want to go. Surprisingly some of the ideas halfway work, some really work, and of course some just make things worse. If you enjoy a little slapstick with your mystery, this is a great book for you. Jamie, of course, doesn't see anything funny about the possibility of prison. I think Maizy might be related to Stephanie Plum's grandmother.Product details

Death of a Diva Jamie Winters Mysteries Book 2 edition by Kelly Rey Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
The characters were well developed. I enjoyed the antics of Maisy. The is the first book I read in the series and intend to read book 1. I think a reader will like the humor and want more too.
This is one of the most fun and funniest books I've read, and I read a lot. I was really looking forward to the second book of this series, and I wasn't disappointed. Great characters, great story, and enough suspects to keep me guessing. Definitely recommend it.
The second full length book in the series. There is a Christmas novella (1.5) as well.
Well written and plotted with an interesting yet quirky cast of characters and a likeable protagonist. The best part of the story though is the precocious teenager who is her partner in solving the mystery.
A 30 something woman who can't cook, keep house and only eats junk food as if she was 12. A good looking guy who seems to like her and she doesn't even know what to do. Plus a 17 year old girl has more sense and spunk than she does. Waste of time.
I thought Kelly Rey's first book was good but when Jamie Winters teams up with teenage super sleuth, Maizy, the fun never quits....and neither does the action. The murder of a psychic who never saw it coming was, I'm ashamed to admit, so funny I had to keep reminding myself that 'murder is not nice!' Looking forward to Ms Rey's third book...oh please let it be soon!
This is a good mystery. This is well written; it has lots of suspects, and a lot of twists and turns. Maizy, the daughter of a police officer, is very good at helping Jamie do her sleuthing. Jamie is being blamed for the murder after a psychic client of her law firm is found dead. Jamie is a secretary in a law office and her job is in jeopardy when she gets accused. Jamie is interested in Maizy's uncle and the two form an unlikely friendship. Impulsive, socially conscious, and a healthy eating enthusiast high schooler Maizy and struggling to get by and junk food junkie adult Jamie, make for an odd duo. But the two follow suspects, break into businesses, and ask lots of questions to work the case. All while Jamie tries to help a man who doesn't quiet grasp nuance or normalcy to date her sister. A humorous mystery and a great read.
Jamie Winters and teenager Maizie. What an oddball pair, these to should join up as Private investigator duo. Jamie is an admittedly not so bright twenty something, and Maizie is a keenly observant teenager. They are totally different, yet bounce off of each other just right. I loved meeting the quirky characters as the story unfolded. Yes, I did find myself confusing a few names, but that made me pay closer attention to try to figure out the mystery. It's a fun read, and there were parts that made me smile or laugh. Some parts brought up some memories of "oh yeah, those were around back in the day". I will be reading some more of Jamie Winters and works written by Kelly Ray.
